Strategic Wildness (IN PERSON!) Glazing Workshop - Mid-range (cone 5-6) focus 05/21/23
This 3 hour class is being offered May 21st, 6-9pm in my Bushwick, BK studio as a companion to the piece I recently published in Ceramics Illustrated, Strategic Wildness. Go ahead and read it first if you want to get a sense of what we’ll be talking about: Strategic Wildness article
We will spend the workshop practicing different surface techniques in a small group and each student will get to fire at least two pieces at the end (ready for pick-up the following week). There will be demonstrations, one on one instruction/assistance in trying out the covered techniques, and lots of opportunities for trouble-shooting. Students can either bring their own bisque pieces or I can provide them. This class will focus on mid range glazing in electric kilns, and students will get use of all of my glazes and will receive the recipes in a hand-outs at the end. If you are looking for low-fire (cone 04) glazes to try techniques out on, this class the following month will focus on them : Low-fire techniques class info.
I’ll have wine, tea, and light snacks so all you have to bring is your low fire bisqueware (unless you’re getting some from me), clothes you don’t mind getting a bit of glaze on, and a notebook.
